The Challenge
What DATwise Was Facing
Field engineers using DATwise's safety compliance platform routinely skipped checklist steps in low-connectivity environments, creating regulatory risk. Contextual enquiry on active worksites revealed that the interface demanded constant server round-trips and timed out at critical moments, forcing workers to improvise offline workarounds on paper.
The Solution
What We Built
We mapped the full compliance workflow through job-shadowing across six industrial sites and redesigned the data model and UI for an offline-first architecture. A progressive sync system was introduced with clear conflict-resolution patterns, and the design system was stress-tested in bright sunlight and with gloved hands to ensure field-ready usability.

Results
Measurable Outcomes
✓Checklist completion rate in low-connectivity zones rose from 34% to 96%
✓Regulatory incident reports attributable to skipped steps fell by 71%
✓Average time to complete a safety inspection reduced by 28%
